Graduation : May 24, 2013

• Graduation Dues are $50. This money covers the cost of : Cap, Gown, Tassel, Diploma, & Diploma Cover

• These dues are required for all graduating Seniors

• Money should be turned into the Guidance Office by 12/14

• Checks should be made out to Harpeth High School  - Cash is also accepted

New Scholarship Listings:

*Tennessee Chapter Soil and Water Conservation Society Natural Resources Scholarship:  A $600 scholarship and applicant must major in natural resources field of study.  Applications are in the guidance office.  Deadline: December 1, 2012

*Tennessee Concrete Association Essay Contest: Essay must be type, double-spaced, and may not exceed 600 words.  Essays judged on content & writing ability (grammar, style, clarity, etc).  Must fill out entry form (available in guidance office) and submit essay by Deadline: December 3, 2012

*Sertoma Club Nashville 53^rd Annual Freedom Essay Contest: Winner receives $3500.  Runner-up receives $2000. Applicants should submit a 300-word essay on the topic provided.  Info available at www.nashvillesertomaclub.org.  See Mrs. Holley for topic & more details.  Essays are due to Mrs. Holley by Deadline: December 7, 2012

*The Darin C. Banks Foundation Annual Collegiate Scholarship Competition: Three $1000 scholarships will be awarded.  Applicants must be a high senior; must be ages 16-18; a US or naturalized citizen; minimum 3.0 GPA required.  Information and application at www.dcbfoundation.org

*11^th Annual National Co-op Scholarship Program: More than 150 Merit co-op awards ($6000/ea.) available for students to attend Drexel, Johnson & Wales, Kettering, RIT, Univ. of Cincinnati, Toledo, or Wentworth.  Minimum 3.5 GPA required.  Apply online at www.co-op.edu.  Call with questions -978-934-1870  Deadline: February 15, 2013

*Stan & Thelma Plumlee Scholarship: Tennessee Manufacturing Housing Association (TMHA) offers $8000 (4yr) scholarships to students who are associated with the manufactured home industry in some way (living in a manufactured home, working in the industry, having a relative who works in the industry).  Must attend a TN college.  More info available at www.tnmha.net Deadline: March 8, 2013

The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) Essay Contest – Essay winner will win $5000 scholarship and an all expense-paid trip to Philadelphia.  Entrants must write an 800-1000 word essay on constitutional guarantees of free expression.  Find out more details at thefire.org/scholarship. Deadline:  November 25, 2012

Scarlett Family Foundation: Open to Middle TN high school seniors who plan to pursue a degree in Business.  Apply: www.scarlettfoundation.org. Deadline: December 15, 2012

Anne Ford & Allegra Ford Scholarships for students with Learning Disabilities - Two high school seniors with documented learning disabilities can apply for these awards.  Anne Ford Scholarship awards $10,000 to attend 4-yr university; Allegra Ford Scholarship awards $2500 to attend a 2-yr community college or vocational/ tech program.  Visit website for eligibility: http://www.ncld.org/about-us/scholarships-aamp-awards/the-anne-ford-and-allegra-ford-scholarship-award.

John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest – Write an original essay on the political courage of a US elected official.  For more information and registration, visit www.JFKLibrary.org. 

Submissions due: January 2013

Princeton Prize in Race Relations – Honors high school students who are doing outstanding work in their schools/communities to advance race relations.  Apply for a $1000 cash reward and an all-expense trip to a workshop at Princeton University.  Applications available at www.princeton.edu/PrincetonPrize. Deadline: January 31, 2013

Heritage Bank Scholarship – Applications are now available in the Guidance office.  Two seniors from HHS will receive $500 scholarships.  Deadline: February 8, 2013

University of Chattanooga Chemistry Scholarships – The Grote Chemistry Scholarship is $12,000 over 4 years.  Must have a 3.5 GPA and 26 ACT.  Submit application online at www.utc.edu/Chemistry/Students/scholarship/Grote/GroteInfo.php.  Deadline: February 15, 2013
