Harlem vs. Winnebago

April 5, 2011
Harlem High School

WINNEBAGO -

Harlem coach Brad Heidenreich has stressed two things so far into the early prep girls soccer season: Playing the ball back and spreading the field out.

One day after suffering a shutout loss to reigning NIC-10 champions Boylan, the Huskies improved in those areas, earning a 3-0 victory over Winnebago on Friday.

It was the Huskies' first win of the season.

"We passed the ball around real nice," Heidenreich said. "We got the ball around and spread the field. We have a lot of skill this year, so we are able to move the ball around."

Harlem wasted little time in its ability to get open as junior defender Chloe Madison gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead midway the first half.

The Huskies, who outshot Winnebago 21-4, went up 2-0 on Cora Wessman's goal when she found the back of the net with 12 minutes left before halftime.
