Parker Anderson, 17, gathers toys Monday, Dec. 13, 210, as Harlem High School students gave their donations to the Harlem Township Toys for Kids drive. The program is expected to serve about 300 children this year in Harlem Township and the Harlem School District.

MACHESNEY PARK - Harlem High School students showed their giving nature today by donating thousands of dollars' worth of toys to needy children.

Students raised about $4,700 to support Harlem Township's Toys for Kids campaign this year. The annual drive helps bring Christmas to needy children in Harlem Township and the School District. Students are always among the biggest supporters of the program.

"There are a lot of kids out there that aren't fortunate enough to receive toys. It's great giving back to the community," said Harlem senior Dylan Stanley. "Many students donated their own money. They could have spent their money on something else, but they wanted to see other kids have Christmas."
