LOVES PARK - The Auburn girls bowling team's surprise third-place finish at Friday's preseason tournament at Park Lanes is somewhat similar to the Knights' run three years ago at the first NIC-10 girls meet.
That year, the Knights took second with a talented team that included three freshmen.
Those freshmen - Denise Schulz, Marissa Talley and Brittnay Wyrick - are now seniors. They hope to push Auburn toward the top of the conference standings in their final season.
"We have strong bowlers this year," said Schulz, who qualified for state individually last year and placed 36th. "I think our intensity is much better."
