Four local wrestlers advanced to the final eight in their respective weight classes from Friday's opening round at the IHSAA State Finals.

Two -- New Palestine's C.J. Red and Greenfield-Central's Josh Farrell -- remained perfect and to 45-0 on the year.

At 106, Red pinned Farifield's Blake Glogouski in 4:52 to win his opening-round match. Red will face Penn's Drew Hildebrandt (40-10) in Saturday's second-round contest.

At 138, New Palestine's Gordon Wagner fell 13-3 to Indian Creek's Tyler Hupp (40-1). Wagner finishes the year 39-8.

At 145, NP's Robbie Elsea moved on in dramatic fashion, taking down East Noble's Tyler Hausholder in OT to win 5-3. Elsea (40-5) faces Mishawaka's Tony Macri (43-1) in the round of eight Saturday morning.

At 152, Farrell stayed perfect with yet another tech fall -- this one by a 22-7 score over Portage's Daniel Roach. Farrell meets Huntington North's Sebastian Eckart (34-6) in Saturday's second round.

At 182, NP's Brian Wagner moved on with a 5-2 victory over Adams Central's Benjamin Pfister. Wagner is now 39-5 on the year. Wagner will meet Bloomington South's Dakota Thacker (42-3) in the quarterfinals.
