Hancock County girls basketball sectional pairings & pairings for conference foes. Will be updated as drawn.

Games will be at 6/7:30 p.m. for two-game nights, 7 p.m. for single-game weeknights. All championships will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9.

Class 4A Greenfield-Central sectional 9 (Greenfield-Central)
Tuesday, Feb. 5
Pendleton Heights (13-8) vs. Connersville (13-8), 6 p.m.
Greenfield-Central (8-12) vs. Anderson (16-5), 7:30 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 8
Richmond (12-10) vs. PH/Conn winner, 6 p.m.
New Castle (6-14) vs. G-C/Anderson winner, 7:30 p.m.
Winner goes to: face Terre Haute sectional winner in Decatur Central regional (1st semi)
Flash analysis: This is a balanced sectional. Anderson is, per Sagarin, a pretty clear favorite, but there are four teams with 10+ wins and G-C will end up close to .500 against a very tough schedule. The Cougars also took a lot of those lumps when they were shorthanded. They're at full strength now, and it's been showing. It'll be a tough draw for the Cougars. Anderson has won seven straight and has beaten two of last year's state finalists -- Mt. Vernon and North Central. In the other half of the bracket, PH has quietly had a good season. The Arabians beat Anderson in the Madison County final for their most impressive win of the year. However, PH has also dropped five of its last six.

Class 4A Franklin sectional 13 (New Palestine)
Tuesday, Feb. 5
Greenwood (16-4) vs. Franklin (7-13), 6 p.m.
Center Grove (15-5) vs. Franklin Central (16-4), 7:30 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 8
Whiteland (10-11) vs. Gwood/Franklin winner, 6 p.m.
New Palestine (3-17) vs. CG/FC winner, 7:30 p.m.
Winner goes to:
face Evansville sectional winner sectional winner in Bedford North Lawrence regional (1st semi)
Flash analysis: This is a loaded sectional. Going in, whichever team of the three 14+-win teams got the bye would have a clear advantage, but instead, none of them did. Greenwood is in a little better place, but it still has to beat a dangerous Franklin team on its home floor, and then knock off a Whiteland team that played it to a one-point game a few weeks back. Center Grove-Franklin Central is a dynamite matchup. FC is currently unranked, but has been in the top 10 earlier this year (as has Greenwood). FC, CG and Greenwood are listed by Sagarin as the top three teams in the sectional, in that order, but all three are in the top 21 in the state, with Whiteland in the top 60. In that, New Palestine's extremely young team gets to face one of those top teams early. The Dragons fell to FC in a lopsided game early in the year, but that was the second game for a freshman-laden team. They've come light years since then, but every experience in the sectional will be big for a young squad.

Class 3A Chatard sectional 26 (Mt. Vernon)
Tuesday, Feb. 5
(6) Mt. Vernon (16-4) vs. Howe (5-14)
, 7 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 8
Brebeuf (9-11) vs. Chatard (15-7), 6 p.m.
Guerin (15-7) vs. MV/Howe winner, 7:30 p.m.
Winner goes to: face Lebanon sectional winner in Danville regional (1st semi)
Flash analysis:
The Marauders are the prohibitive favorite to win this sectional again. While the Marauders have battled injuries to key players throughout most of the season, they've been able to gain valuable experience for several young players who will now be counted on. Rachel Houck provides solid senior leadership and Sydney Shelton has been a consistent 20ppg scorer for MV. It'll be a tough road, as the Marauders will likely have to beat Guerin and Chatard, the top two other teams in the sectional.

Class 2A Knightstown sectional 41 (Eastern Hancock)
Tuesday, Feb. 5
Northeastern (9-10) vs. Eastern Hancock (16-4), 7 p.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 6
Cambridge City Lincoln (13-7) vs. Hagerstown (11-9), 6 p.m.
Knightstown (12-8) vs. Union County (2-18), 7:30 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 8
Centerville (8-9) vs. NE/EH winner, 6 p.m.
Wednesday winners, 7:30 p.m.
Winner goes to: face Triton Central sectional winner in Speedway regional (2nd semi)
Flash analysis: A deep sectional, but Eastern Hancock appears to be the favorite. Sagarin agrees, putting EH ahead of Cambridge City Lincoln. However, there are no pushovers in this sectional -- four 10+-win teams and Centerville would likely be a fifth if it had played a full 20-game schedule. EH has won 12 of its last 13 games, and the only loss was to 3A No. 7 Mt. Vernon. The Royals have some solid victories -- over 4A Greenfield-Central, over 1A No. 8 Southwestern (Shelby) on the road. And they've beaten potential sectional foes Cambridge City Lincoln (46-41), Northeastern (50-47) and Knightstown (51-42), all in December, as well as Centerville last Thursday.
