Yorktown sweeps Dragons: New Palestine's swim teams were swept by Yorktown Thursday night in a dual meet.

NP's girls are now 2-2-1 on the season. The Dragon boys were swimming their opener. 

Yorktown won the girls meet 107-79. NP had a 1-2 finish in the 100 breaststroke with Addison Virt and Erin Trimpe. Other NP winners were Shannon Jones in diving, Emily Trimpe in the 100 freestyle, and Erin Trimpe in the 500 freestyle.

NP second places went to the Emily Trimpe in the 200 freestyle, Addison Virt in the 50 freestyle, the 200 medley relay team of Lily Horn, Emily Trimpe, Claire Hornsby and Virt, the 200 free relay team of Rachel Wineman, Virt, Megan Prosser and Kenzie Wells, and the 400 free relay team of Emily Trimpe, Katie Mustard, Wells and Erin Trimpe.

Yorktown won the boys meet 113-70. NP winners were Luke Steigerwalt in the 100 butterfly, Grant Gish in the 100 freestyle and the 200 medley relay team of Jake Mitchell, Chris Dodd, Luke Steigerwalt and Wil Mitchell.

Second places went to Gish in the 200 freestyle, Connor Page in diving, Steigerwalt in the 100 backstroke, Dodd in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 free relay team of Gish, Dodd, Todd Horn and Wil Mitchell.

Both NP teams travel to Delta next Thursday for a dual meet.

Cougars split with New Castle: G-C's boys beat New Castle 126-54. First Place Finishes: 200 Medley Relay: Cummins, Jones, Phillips, Gill, 200 Free: Tomer, 200 IM: P. Stutz, Diving: Gaunt, 100 Fly: Gill, 100 Free: Willoughby, 500 Free: Young, 100 Back: Keener, 400 Free Relay: Holt, Shelton, Tomer, P. Stutz. 

G-C's girls fell to New Castle 97-87. Winners for the Cougars were Carly Fernandes in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke and Taylor Johnson in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Also winning were the 200 free relay team of Fernandes, Stirn, Johnson, Cermak.


G-C falls to Franklin Central: Franklin Central knocked off the Cougars 33-30 in a close match Thursday night.

The Cougars next wrestle Dec. 5 at Warren Central.
