Monday county roundup: NP, G-C tennis win.

Boys tennis

New Palestine 5, Pendleton Heights 0: The Dragons posted a strong sweep of Pendleton Heights, with all five positions winning at least one 6-0 set.

Brent Barrett won 6-0, 6-3 over PH's Kevin Hart at No. 1 singles. Stratton Smith and Connor Swain both won 6-0, 6-0 at singles. Evan Poole/Shayan Khokhar won 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. David Thompson/Pete Rusche won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

"We played realy well all the way through the lineup," NP coach Chris Hardin said. "I feel like we're headed in the right direction after spending some time finding ourselves. We're in position where if we keep moving forward, we're going to be in a good place come sectional time."

NP is now 7-3 on the season. The Draons host Tech Tuesday. 

The Dragon JV won 10-0.

Greenfield-Central 3, Shelbyville 2: The Cougars got a big Hoosier Heritage Conference victory against a solid Golden Bears squad Monday afternoon.

Max Holtzclaw/Jake Kauth won 6-2, 7-5 at No. 1 doubles. Chris Kersey and Brandon Hull had three-set singles victories for the Cougars, who are now 8-3 on the year. Kersey won 6-1, 2-6, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Hull won 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 at No. 3 singles.

The Cougars' No. 2 doubles team of Luke Vowell/Bailey Hull had a razor-thin loss, falling 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

G-C hosts HHC foe Pendleton Heights Wednesday.

Volleyball

Eastern Hancock 3, South Decatur 0: The Royals posted a convincing 25-16, 25-14, 25-15 victory to improve to 7-5 overall and 3-0 in Mid-Hoosier Conference play. 

Frannie Stephenson led the Royals with 16 kills, four aces and 11 digs. Melissa Bedell had 12 kills and eight aces. Tori Bednarski had 11 digs and four aces. Emily Jeffries had eight kills. Hannah Best had a team-high 14 digs. Jordian Eastes had 10 digs and 35 assists. 

The Royals next play Wednesday at Shenandoah. 

Girls soccer

Greenfield-Central 11, Greenwood 0: The Cougars got four goals from Sammie McCoy and three from Tori Singco in the victory.

Sara Hudson, Kylie Smith, Alli Frazier and Rachel Berish also scored goals for the Cougars.

Katie Peters and Courtney Dunn combined on the shutout.

G-C is now 7-3 on the year. The Cougars next play Wednesday at New Palestine.

Golf

Pendleton Heights 172, New Palestine 193: The Arabians' 3-4-5 players shot low scores to beat NP at Pendleton Heights' home course, Fall Creek Golf Course. 

Abby Poole shot a 42 to lead New Palestine. Cassie Rooks had a 49, Sarah Rose a 50 and Bailey Kamp a 52 for the Dragons. 

PH had four players under 43. 

NP next plays Wednesday at Antler Pointe against Rushville. 

NP won the JV match 226-256.
