New Palestine dropped out of the Top 10 in the AP poll this week, but the Dragons are receiving votes in both the AP and IFCA polls this week.

The Dragons are the first team outside the Top 10 in the AP poll after debuting at No. 3 and dropping to No. 10 after a Week 1 loss to Whiteland. The Dragons beat Richmond 28-6 in Week 2, but moved one spot down and out of the rankings.

NP is also ranked No. 11 in Class 4A in the Sagarin computer rankings

Eastern Hancock is receiving votes in the Class A poll for the first time since the middle part of the last decade, receiving two poll points in the AP poll. The Royals have outscored their first two foes 101-12 in their opening two weeks' games to go to 2-0 on the season.

New Palestine (1-1) will visit Pendleton Heights, ranked No. 5 by the AP and No. 10 by the IFCA, this Friday night. PH is 2-0. Listen to a live broadcast at HancockCountySports.com

Eastern Hancock (2-0) will meet Indian Creek (0-2) on Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The next week, the Royals will host Milan Sept. 7 for a game we'll broadcast live at HancockCountySports.com. Milan is ranked No. 4 in both Class A polls.

Elsewhere in Hancock County, HHC play starts this week. Mt. Vernon (1-1) visits Yorktown (1-1) and Greenfield-Central (1-1) visits Delta (1-1) for 7:30 p.m. kickoffs.
