Eastern Hancock 40, Tindley 6: The Royals jumped out to a 40-0 lead at halftime and won their season opener for the first time since 2006. It also spoiled the first varsity game in the history of Tindley, a charter school on Indianapolis' northeast side. Spencer Gilbert ran for 100 yards, QB Logan Splater threw for more than 100 and Derrik Noel had a 90-yard TD reception for the Royals. Daily Reporter Milan 24, Northeastern 6: The sixth-ranked team in Class A opened with a non-conference victory. South Decatur 28, Cambridge City Lincoln 13: The Cougars came out of the chute strong with a victory despite Cambridge City scoring two big-play TDs. South Decatur visits Eastern Hancock next week. Richmond Palladium-Item North Decatur 34, Union County 14: The Chargers jumped ahead 27-6 at halftime and pulled away to a victory, giving the MIFC a 3-0 record against the Tri-Eastern Conference in opening week. Richmond Palladium-Item Terre Haute South 34, Indian Creek 24: The MIFC's biggest school took on a MIC rival, and rallied late to close the score, but couldn't overcome the Braves. Matthew Wray threw two fourth-quarter TD passes to Kyle Miekeljohn and IC scored three times in the final 12 minutes. Wray threw for 201 yards, 132 of those to Brenden Smith.
