Vernon 6, Rushville 0: Mouhamed Konate scored a three-goal hat trick and added an assist. C.J. Coleman had a goal and two assists and the Marauders posted their second victory in as many games. MV also won its HHC opener with the shutout of Rushville. Coleman and Konate scored in the opening half, with Aaron Gilpin and Cole Justus providing assists, respectively. Kyle Cansler broke it open with an unassisted goal, followed by Braxton Ratekin's goal off a double-assist from Coleman and Josiah Noska. Konate added two late goals for the hat trick -- assisted by Drew Kiser and Coleman. Corban Hartley had the shutout in net. MV (2-0) next plays Tuesday at home against HHC rival Delta. Girls soccer Franklin Central 3, Greenfield-Central 0: The Cougars dropped their season opener with a shutout loss at FC. The Cougars next play Monday against HHC and county rival Mt. Vernon.
