5/28 CLASS 3 QUARTERFINAL

            HALLSVILLE............................3
            O'FALLON CHRISTIAN..........6

Not one bit disappointed in our effort, however.......... Hallsville's season came to a close yesterday with a 6-3 loss, one step away from another FinalFour appearance.  O'Fallon Christian proved to be a strong and worthy opponent scoring every inning but the 2nd (one run in each of the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 6th, and two in the 4th)  and cancelling almost all of the Indians' scoring opportunities.  O'F Christian will make its first appearance in the final four to face New Madrid County Central next Tuesday in a semifinal game.  The other semifinalists are quite familiar, Springfield Catholic and last year's champs, Fatima, will meet up in the other half of the bracket.
Despite the Indians racking up 11 hits over the seven innings yesterday, Hallsville couldn't bunch enough together at one time to come up with one or two big innings to counter the Eagles scoring.  Cole Burkett and Nathan Goett each banged out two hits while CJ Ashburn collected three hits in four trips to the plate.  And Derrek Trickel drove in two runs on a single and a sac fly.  The third run for the Indians was on an rbi-double by Collin Drummond.  Four different Indians doubled over the course of the contest:  Burkett, Drummond, Ashburn, and Ryan Long.
Hallsville had runners on base in every inning but O'Fallon double plays in the 2nd and 3rd frames halted those threats and the Indians stranded nine baserunners altogether.
Hallsville's season record finishes at 14 wins and 9 losses.

Five seniors will have the opportunity to play one more game as they were selected to appear in the Class 3, Senior all-star game on June 14 at 1pm on the Lindenwood University campus:  SEAN WOOTEN, NATHAN GOETT, C.J. ASHBURN, DERREK TRICKEL, and LUCAS STEWART.  Congratulations to these athletes.
