Boy's Golf Update - April 14-18

May 8, 2014
Hallsville High School

April 14th: Tolton Golf Tournament

On a cold, wet...and as it turned out during the middle of the day, a snowy golf tournament, Hallsville traveled to Columbia Country Club for the inaugural Tolton Golf Tournament. I was really proud of all of our kids, and those from other schools, as the conditions were less then ideal, but the kids fought and battled through it making sure they completed the tournament when it would have been easy to quit.

Hallsville placed 11th out of 12 teams shooting a team score of 464. For 3 of the golfers (Michael Culwell, Steven Morris, and Clarence Morris) we took that day, it was their first time competing solo in an 18 hole tournament so like many things this season it was a new experience for them.

Individually, we were led by Ryan Tarrence shooting a career low tournament round of 94, good for 21st out of 56 golfers. Lee March shot a 110, Steven Morris a 120, Michael Culwell a 140, and Clarence Morris a 147.

April 16th: Southern Boone Classic

On the 16th, we traveled to Eagle Knoll Golf Course in Hartsburg for the Southern Boone Classic. It was a day I know most of the kids wouldn't mind forgetting as we shot a team score of 507, placing 17th out of 18 teams.

Individually, we were led by Steven Morris who bested his Monday tournament round by a stroke shooting a 119.

April 17th: Quad Match @ Fayette, Harrisburg, Westran

We bounced back from a disappointing Wednesday with a season and career low day on Thursday in our match with Fayette, Harrisburg, and Westran. We won 1 out of the 3 matches, beating Fayette, by posting our season low round of 215, but fell to Harrisburg (170) and Westran (184).

Individually, we saw career low rounds by several golfers including Lee March (48), Michael Culwell (51), and Steven Morris (53).
