JV girls update 1-31-14

January 31, 2014
Hallsville High School

Jan. 21 vs. North Callaway

The girls jumped out early to take the lead 11-2 after the first quarter.  We continued to play well in the second quarter, leading 19-6 at half.  We relaxed a little in the third quarter, but we were able to finish out the game strong.  Hallsville came away with a 33-15 victory.  Brooke Alley had 12 and Sheridan Hargis added 8.

Jan. 22 vs. California

Playing our third game of the week, the girls came out slow.  We were held scoreless in the first quarter, but only allowed California to score 2 points.  Unfortunately, we let them score 14 points in the second quarter to take a 14-7 lead into half.  Despite playing a close second half, we were never able to close the gap.  We lost 33-27.  Brooke Alley had 14 points and Hannah Ricketts scored 6 points.

Jan. 24 @ Warsaw

The girls were able to fight the long bus ride and get out to an early lead.  We were able to outscore Warsaw in the first three quarters and hold onto the lead in the fourth.  Everyone got to play and we saw some great intensity from some unexpected players!  It was a great team win and despite a long week of games, the morale of the team was high!  The final score was 35-26.  Brooke Alley scored 16 points and Sheridan Hargis scored 10 points.

Jan. 30 @ Centralia

Last night we traveled to Centralia to take on the Panthers.  Although they had a limited number of players, their effort outmatched ours.  We got down early and went into the half trailing by 11.  We played a close third quarter, but we were not able to claw back into the game.  Centralia took the win 52-32.  Hannah Ricketts scored 10 points and Sheridan Hargis scored 9 points.

Our next game is Tuesday, February 4th.  We host Harrisburg and tip off is at 6 P.M.  We hope to see you there!  Thank you for the continued support.
