Wrestling update

January 2, 2014
Hallsville High School

from Coach David Nugent

Heading into break, the HHS wrestling team made the trip to St. Louis on December 20. The team picked up two dual wins, a 36-30 win over Maplewood-Richmond Heights and a 40-18 win over Normandy. Notable performances include Jacob Willhoite with two pins, Brendan Howard with a pin and Hunter Tessman with a pin and a major decision (win by 8 or more points).

The next day the Indians competed in the Brentwood Invitational. Hunter Tessman was dominant at 145 pounds, pinning every opponent on his way to a first place finish. Hunter recorded a first period pin in his finals' match against Priory. Hunter went a combined 6-0 on both days, with five pins and a major decision. Jacob Huisman at 182 pounds and Jacob Willhoite at 160 pounds also had strong performances, recording some wins and dropping a few very close matches that just put them out of medaling.

The team is back in action this Saturday at the Moberly Dual Tournament against Moberly, Brookfield, Versailles and Buffalo.
