8th grade boys win at Harrisburg
December 19, 2013Hallsville High School
from Coach Jordan Carmack
Last night the Indians took the short trip to Harrisburg to take on the Bulldogs. In a rematch of our only loss of the year the boys set out to truly show who the better team is. The game started off pretty mild as both teams turned the ball over quite a bit throughout the whole first half. The first quarter was really sloppy as the Indians seemed to think they were wearing white jerseys instead of purple, seemingly throwing every pass to the Bulldogs. After a quarter the Indians were able to hold the lead 6-3. The second quarter the Indians took a little bit better care of the basketball and were able to get some easy buckets combined with 7-8 from the free throw line to stretch our lead at half to 19-8.
The second half saw the Indians come out rejuvenated with pressure defense leading to easy baskets along with great passing on the offensive end the Indians were able to put an even bigger gap between themselves and the Bulldogs headed into the fourth quarter. The Indians led 34-21 heading to the final period. The fourth quarter saw the Indians continue to score at will against the Bulldogs and the Bulldogs could never close the gap between them and the Indians. In the end the Indians were able to get the revenge they were seeking, 49-34. This was a great win and a great team effort for our boys to come back and beat the only team that had beaten us all season.
Our scoring was very balanced in this game as it has been all season. Our team is so well balanced when it comes to scoring that it makes it hard for other teams to completely shut our team down. Last night we were led by Ethan Thompson and Graham Moser with 13 points apiece.
Our final game will be Friday, December 20th (tomorrow) as we host the Centralia Panthers at home in the West Gym with the 8th grade girls tipping at 6:00 p.m.. It would be really awesome if we could pack this gym for our final game. Please pass on the info to anyone who likes to watch good basketball to come out on Friday and pack the stands!
