NEW HEADING 1
JV Boys v. Eugene W 50-41
December 12, 2012Hallsville High School
from Coach Jordan Carmack
Last night the JV Indians played host to the Eagles of Eugene. The Eagles started out hot hitting three 3 pointers in the first quarter but the Indians stayed strong and continued to battle and were able to tie the score after one quarter 11-11. The second period the Indians really turned up the defensive pressure and were able to hold the Eagles to only two points. The Indians led at the break 20-13.
The second half started slow for the Indians as they failed to carry the momentum but they were able to keep the lead heading into the fourth period 30-29. The fourth period was when these JV Indians decided to grow up and become a ball team. They turned the intensity level back up and took control of the game. They played great defense and were very patient on offense getting easy buckets and open shots. Since they took control of the fourth quarter the Indians were able to come away with a great victory by a final score of 50-41.
This was a game where our team really grew as a group. The game was highlighted by a dunk from newcomer to the program Octavius Johnson and it really sparked the kids and got them going. Overall we were led in scoring by Evann Sells with 13 followed by Mason McCaleb with 11.
The Boys teams have no games for the remainder of this week. The Varsity Indians will be back in action on Monday, December 17th as they travel to Fayette to take on the Falcons with the girls set to tip at 6 p.m.. The JV Indians will play on Tuesday, December 18th at home against the Falcons with the girls set for a 6 p.m. tip.
