Varsity Girls fall to NC in first round of Centralia Tournament

December 4, 2012
Hallsville High School

from Coach Brad Blakemore We faced off against North Callaway in the opening game of the 56th annual Centralia Invitational Tournament last night. The girls started off very sluggish and were down by as many as 20 points in the first half. Melissa Williamson hit a bucket with 3 seconds left to send us into halftime trailing 34 to 15. We made a few adjustments and the girls responded with a great third quarter to close the gap to 43 to 34. Midway thru the 4th quarter we were down by seven and missed several put-back attempts which would have pull us into striking distance. We lost 55 to 43. I was very pleased with how our girls continued to fight in the second half, it would have been easy for some kids to pack it in for the night. Our kids showed a lot of competitive spirit. Jordan Dinyer finished with 11 points and Michelle Gall had 10. We play Boonville (who lost on a 3 at the buzzer to Salisbury) on Wednesday night at 9pm.
