Home » Boys' Basketball NewsJV Boys v. SturgeonNovember 27, 2012 Hallsville High SchoolLast night the Hallsville Indians played to host to the Bulldogs of Sturgeon. It was the first game of the JV season and the Indians came out strong. The first half saw the Indians stifle the Bulldogs with their half court pressure defense and barrage of outside scoring. The Indians were able to go into halftime with a commanding 25-14 lead. The second half was a much different story. The Indians couldn't seem to put the ball in the bucket quite as easily as they did in the first half and some costly turnovers and missed rebounds came back to haunt the Indians in the end as they ended up on the wrong side of the scoreboard in a 37-33 loss. This was a pretty good game for the Indians to start the season with and improvements will be made throughout the season with a great bunch of young players. Our scoring last night was pretty well distributed among the whole team which is a great sign for the rest of the year. We were led in scoring by Evann Sells with 9 points followed by Taylor Vincent with 7. Don't forget the Varsity Indians are in action tonight at home against the Wildcats of New Bloomfield with the girls set to tip at 6 p.m.. As for the JV our next action will be on Saturday as we travel to New Bloomfield to play an early game with the girls set to tip at 10 a.m.. Thanks for the support and Go Indians! Jordan Carmack
