RED RIBBON WEEK OCT. 22-26
October 30, 2012
By Maribeth Frevert of Hallsville High SchoolThe week of October 22 - 26, 2012 was Red Ribbon Week. This campaign was started when drug traffickers in Mexico City murdered DEA agent Kiki Camarena in 1985. This began the continuing tradition of displaying Red Ribbons as a symbol of intolerance towards the use of drugs. The mission of the Red Ribbon Campaign is to present a unified and visible commitment towards the creation of a DRUG-FREE AMERICA. The buildings hosted activities to celebrate the week, ranging from dress up days, classroom door decorating, guest speakers, and assemblies. The National Honor Society sponsored a flash mob video featuring our high school students from all of the various student organizations. You can watch the video on our YouTube channel or go to the district Facebook page.
