Home » Middle School Football NewsMS Football 8th L 28-0 7th W 12-6September 27, 2012 Hallsville High Schoolfrom Coach Josh Lancaster Last night the MS Football Indians traveled to take on the Centralia Panthers in 8th & 7th grade contests. 8th Grade Result: Some early struggles put us down early as it was 14-0 after the 1st quarter. Offensively we had a tough time getting things going all night as we would have success with our plays here and there; but between the here and there we didn't have the consistency we needed to sustain drives and be able to put the ball in the end zone. Defensively we put things together a little more after the first quarter giving up 14 points over the final 3 quarters to come home on the wrong side of a 28-0 score. We continue to see good things from our 8th graders that we're building off of; just trying to develop consistency in doing those things. The 8th grade plays next Tuesday, Oct. 2nd at home against South Callaway. Kickoff is set for 5:30 pm. ? 7th Grade Result: The 7th grade came home with an exciting 12-6 victory over the host Centralia Panthers. We mostly dominated the first half as Centralia struggled to do anything on offense. Offensively, we operated well in getting drives going, but often stumbled over ourselves with costly errors and penalties that kept us out of the end zone in the first half. Twice we found ourselves inside the Centralia 15 yard line and came away with nothing to show for it resulting in a scoreless first half. Centralia came to life in the 3rd quarter, blocking a punt and converting 2 pass plays to get into the end zone taking a 6-0 lead. The 7th graders rallied scoring 2 touchdowns after falling behind, including the game winning touchdown with 24 seconds left bringing home the exciting 12-6 victory. Defensively we were especially strong all night with defenders penetrating the Centralia offensive line and we lived in their backfield all night making it tough on the Centralia quarterbacks and running backs to get things going. The 7th grade has a little more time off as their next game is on Thursday Oct. 4th at Fayette. Kickoff for the Fayette game is at 6:00 pm. Thanks to all the parents and staff that came out to support us as we had a great crowd behind us!
