Spring Athletic Awards

May 22, 2012
Hallsville High School

At the Spring Athletic Awards program, Middle School track, Baseball, Boys Golf, and High School track presented their team and individual awards for each of the sports.

The Hallsville Athletic Boosters sponsor this event.  The HAB awarded 3 scholarships this year to Morgan George, Hunter Smith, and Matthew Tuttle.  These were awarded at the Senior Awards program on May 15th.

In addition to the team awards given by the coaches,  Activities Director George Rudisaile gave out the following end of the year awards.

(excerpt from his presentation)

The first awards I have to present are those co-sponsored by the Missouri State High School Activities Association and the National Federation of State High School Associations.  The “Award of Excellence” is presented to one male and one female athlete for their exemplary display of sportsmanship, ethics and integrity.

I sincerely believe that nearly all of our student athletes are possible candidates for this award, but we can only honor the two that were the leaders for their teams in these areas.  Therefore, the athletic head coaches voted and determined the recipients of the “Award of Excellence” for this year go to:    Seniors Conner Cotton and Victoria Little

The next awards I have to present are for being selected as the “Most Outstanding Female and Male Athletes” of the 2011-2012 school year.  This award is sponsored by the Hallsville Athletic Booster Club, and voted on by the head coaches of all the athletic programs.  The award winners must meet the minimum requirements:

   1.        participate in one or more sports

   2.       have an accumulated GPA of at least 2.75, and

   3.       display outstanding citizenship and leadership

The female recipient excelled in two sports, and received post season honors in both volleyball and basketball.  She was a starter for the volleyball team and the basketball team, and helped lead the Lady Indians to a third place finish in the state tournament for the second straight year.

Congratulations to the Most Outstanding Female Athlete, Senior, Lauren Little

The male award this year will be shared as a result of a tie vote.  Both recipients are two sport athletes, and each of the individuals received post season honors at the end of both seasons of participation this year.  The first to be recognized is a basketball and baseball player who will return to play for the Indians next year—Congratulations to Junior, Brendan Beatty.

The other male to receive the honor of Most Outstanding Athlete for this year is a senior who participated in track and field and football.  He is the career rushing leader for the football team and gained over 1,000 yards this past fall.  He will attend the University of Missouri in Columbia to play football starting next month.   Congratulations, Senior, Miles Drummond.

New Activities Director Brad Blakemore presented a plaque in appreciation to Mr. Rudisaile for his years as Athletic Director.  Blakemore will be taking over those duties on July 1, and Rudisaile will be continuing on as Transportation Director, Facilities coordinatior and Head of Maintenance.
