from Coach Josh Lancaster
On Tuesday afternoon (4-10), the boys golf team traveled to Centralia Country Club to take on the host Centralia Panthers in a duel. The Indians played their best golf of the season as a team shooting a new low round score of 179, breaking the 180 barrier that had been a goal all season. This score was good enough to tie us with the host Panthers who matched our score at 179.
Individually, we were led by medalist Matt Thunhorst who shattered his new personal low round score by shooting a 3 over par 38. Stephen Dupre followed with a solid 44, Ben Dupre set a new personal low round with a 47, and our varsity scoring was rounded out with William Pieper shooting a 50.
The JV Indians shot a 236 as a team losing to Centralia's JV who shot a 216. The JV Indians were led by Zach Bequette shooting a 53 and Trevor Drummond who shot a 58. The JV rebounded from a tough outing they had on Monday so it was good to see them bounce back.
Yesterday, (Wed. 4-11) the varsity Indians traveled to Eagle Knoll Golf Course to compete in the 5th Annual Southern Boone Golf Classic. 17 teams competed in the field from all across mid-Missouri.
We had our best showing at this tournament in my now 3rd year as coach shooting the best score we have ever shot at this tournament and at this course. Our team score of 422 was good enough to place us 12th out of 17 teams.
There were 84 golfers present at this year's tournament. The tops scorer's this year shot 1 over par 73s to finish 1st and 2nd. Individually, we were led by Stephen Dupre's 98 which was good enough for 41st, and Ben Dupre's 99 which was good enough for 42nd. Matt Thunhorst shot a 107, which placed him 55th.
No rest for the weary as we travel to Hail Ridge Golf Course in Boonville to take on the host Fayette Falcons and Harrisburg Bulldogs.
