Home » Boys' Golf NewsWin over South CallawayMarch 21, 2012 Hallsville High Schoolfrom Coach Josh Lancaster Mother nature threatened again yesterday as we took the course against the South Callaway Bulldogs, but held off until the last 30 minutes of our match last night before it started to sprinkle and rain. All but 3 of the groups were off the course by that point and everyone was able to finish up. The Indians brought home their 2nd straight victory as both the varsity and JV were able to out shoot the Bulldogs. The varsity brought home a 199 - 213 win while the JV won by a margin of 241 - 259. This marks the 2nd consecutive varsity round under 200, something we didn't accomplish even once last year let alone twice in a row (our low round last year was 202). And through 2 matches, the JV team average is about 30 strokes better than it was last season & our 2 JV team scores this year are better than any JV team score from last season. Despite the small sample size so far, I proud of what the boys have done so far & only look forward to continued improvement the rest of the way. Individually, the medalist was Stephen Dupre bringing home a score of 43 followed by runner-up Matt Thunhorst shooting a 49. Other varsity scores were: Zach Bequette at 53, Ben Dupre at 54, and Alec Atkinson at 58. The junior varsity was led by Trevor Drummond shooting a 53. This is a strong start for Trevor, shooting a 53 after his 52 in the opening match on Monday. Taylor Bobinger remained steady shooting a 2nd consecutive round of 57. They were followed by K.C. Stoddard at 62, Michael Culwell at 69, and Jared Bradshaw at 78. William Pieper did not compete towards the team score, but brought home a strong 49 marking the 2nd time he's been under 50 this year. We've had a good start to the year and hope to continue what we've started on Thursday when we go to Salisbury Country Club to compete against the Salisbury Panthers.
