IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (2-25-13)

February 25, 2013
Franklin Community High School

"Promoting education-based athletics in Indiana."

How do you react after a tough loss?  Can you get over your disappointment immediately?  Are you cordial during the post-game handshakes as you walk through the line congratulating the other team?

It's true, all competitive athletes are disappointed after a loss.  It's understandable that you may be upset and want some time alone.

However, be sure to represent yourself and your school in a professional manner as you go through the line congratulating the other team and coaches.

It's okay to be disappointed, but do so without a negative attitude and negative comments.  If not, when it's all said and done and the smoke has cleared, you will be very unhappy with yourself and your actions.
