The Franklin Grizzlies swept Mooresville and Lutheran this week, taking all teams to a 3-1 record.

 

Tuesday, the varsity won their first conference match of the season beating Mooresville in 3 games, 25-21, 25-16 and 25-12. They were led by the aggressive serving of Jess Admire who tallied 6 of Franklin's 9 aces. Jess also added 9 kills & 4 digs. Other team leaders include Caroline Gabehart with 4 kills, Kylie Whittington with 4 kills, Morgan Hash with 3 kills, 2 blocks, Katelyn Kelly with 23 assists, and Tara Parmer added 7 digs. The Varsity is 1-0 in conferences matches and 2-1 on the season.

 

JV is also 2-1 after a hard fought match against Mooresville without setter Caroline Rogers. Aubrey Curry stepped up with 11 assists; Hannah Hook 15 digs; Lexi Hash 2 aces, 7 kills, 10 digs, and Emma Dallecarbonare had 5 kills. Scores were 14-25, 25-18, 15-12.

 

Freshman defeated Mooresville in 2, taking their record to 2-1 as well. Scores were 25-15, 25-17. Stat leaders include Shelby Taylor 11 digs; Sarah Barnard 18 assists and 3 aces; Megan Hartkorn 6 kills; Kate Palmer 5 kills, and Tana Smythe 4 kills.

 

Thursday night, varsity won their third straight match beating Lutheran in 4 games, 25-17, 22-25, 25-16, 25-16. After dropping game 2 the Grizzly Cubs came out firing and put the Saints away the next two games. Match leaders include Jess Admire with 16 kills, 4 aces, 9 digs; Katelyn Kelly 45 assists, 6 digs, 4 aces; Caroline Gabehart 10 kills; Tara Parmer 23 digs; Sara VanDeman 6 kills; Danielle Rogers and Karissa Wentzell 8 digs each.

 

The JV dropped the first game against the Saints 19-25, but came out strong and pulled off another win 25-12 and 15-5. Stat leaders include Hannah Hook 15 digs; Shelby Smith 6 kills, 3 aces; Lexi Hash 6 kills, 8 digs; Aubrey Curry 20 assists. The JV is now 3-1.

 

The Freshman pulled off another win in 2, 25-14, 25-15. They are 3-1 on the season. Leaders include Shelby Taylor 8 digs, 4 aces; Tana Smythe 6 kills; Megan Hartkorn 3 kills; Sarah Barnard 12 assists; Brittaney VanVleet 3 aces.
