Varsity wins 8-4 v. Plainfield

Franklin Community High SchoolThe varsity baseball team defeated Plainfield on Friday 8-4. Brett Schultheis earned the win on the mound, improving his season record to 4-4. This victory allowed the team to clinch a 2nd place finish in Mid-State Conference play.
On Saturday the team traveled to North Central to take on 2nd ranked Lake Central in game one of the North Central Invitational. The Grizzly Cubs battled hard, but lost to Lake Central 3-1. Ty Urban earned the only hit and RBI for the Cubs in the contest. Game two of the invitational paired the Cubs with host team North Central. The team had a 2-0 lead going into the bottom of the last inning and gave up 3 runs to take a hard loss. Charles Stewart had a solo home run in the effort.
The next game will be played on Tuesday as the first round of the Johnson County Tournament. Franklin will play Whiteland at Center Grove High School. Game time is 5:30.
