Senior Lauren Carraway was named Greene Central’s Athlete of the Week for the third week in November.
Carraway was nominated by her Varsity Women’s Tennis Coach, Donald Clark, for being an outstanding leader for the team and a great player on the court.
“My favorite part of tennis is the team,” says Carraway, “I just like hanging out with my teammates and having a good time.”
Carraway, who has been playing tennis for 4 years, says “To be a good tennis player you need to practice and work hard.”
“Over my four years playing tennis I have become a much better leader,” adds Carraway.
“Playing tennis has given me more leadership skills and it has also allowed to build many long lasting friendships,” says Carraway.
“My favorite part of my senior year has been playing tennis,” commented Carraway.
Carraway is currently enrolled in Honors English 12, Art at LCC, Ramblers, and Chemistry at LCC.
Carraway is a member of the Beta Club, Community Service Club, and the Quill and Scroll Club. She also volunteers at the Lenior Memorial Hospital and at the Greene Country Special Olympics.
Her plans for the future are to attend East Carolina University and major in nursing. “In the future I also plan to play more tennis, possibly on a League Tennis,” says Carraway.
She is the daughter of Jay and Shelia Carraway of Snow Hill.
