Fellowship of Christian Athletes Still Seeking Members

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is a club that seeks students to be Christians at Greene Central High School.

FCA is a club where many students come together to talk about a event that has happened to them or something relating to being a Christian in high school.

“Our mission is to challenge athletes through their participation in sports to impact the world for Jesus Christ,” said club advisor Carol Taylor.

“We have had several guest speakers including one this week, Lisa Mazingo,” said vice president Quentin Thigpen.

“Lisa was paralyzed from the waist down due to a car accident her senior year in high school on her prom weekend; she has reminded members to seek refuge and shelter in the arms of God, during difficult times,” commented senior Quentin Thigpen.

“In September we do ‘See You at the Pole,’ which is a global student-initiated, student-led, prayer movement,” commented president Robby Taylor. “FCA clubs from everywhere do this in September every year.”

“This year we sponsored three families during the Christmas season,” said Taylor. “We also held a fundraising event in February at Chick-fil-a.”

“Our meetings are held in the lunch room or TLC every Monday, anybody can join FCA, and we encourage that everyone should at least try this club,” said junior Kasey Turnage.

“My job is to help organize and set up FCA events, I also have to keep up with all the meetings and inform people about everything going on,” president Lisa Anderson.
