Shoniqua Wellington is a sophomore at Greene Central High School who is fifteen years old and is known for being highly intelligent and a good student.
She is originally from Goldsboro but currently resides with her aunt and cousin in Snow Hill.
With plans of attending Duke University once she graduates from high school, Wellington would like to become a Cardiologist. “I want to be a Cardiologist because I want to help people in a different way than just your average job,” explained Wellington.
She enjoys many different activities outside of school, but one in particular is dance. Wellington does not play any sports, but she is a member of two different clubs at school, STEM and Gospel Choir. Gospel Choir is her favorite because of her love for music and dancing.
Wellington’s classes consist of Math II, English 10, Electronic Journalism, and Health Sciences I.
"Even though I have only had Shoniqua for a short period of time, I can already tell she is a hard working student and will do well in my class," said Math teacher Rebecca Burris.
If m she could visit any one place, she would visit the Bahamas because she thinks it would be a beautiful place to visit.
One unique thing about Wellington is that she does not have a middle name. “I don’t know why I don’t have one. I guess my mom just never gave me one,” Wellington stated.
"If she maintains her work ethic throughout the remainder of her academic career, she will be able to do whatever she puts her mind too," said Burris.
