Crutchfield Named Student of theWeek
By Ryann Griffin
Sophomore Taylor Crutchfield has been named Greene Central’s Student of the Week for the first week of October.
“It feels great, and I feel like I have earned this award, and I will do anything to make Principal’s List,” said Crutchfield.
“He participates in class discussions, always tries his best, and even shows his school spirit by attending extracurricular functions,” said Heath Team Relations teacher Lisa Wilson.
Crutchfield is enrolled in Heath Team Relations, Weightlifting, Civics and Economics, and Integrated Math 2. His favorite class this semester as Integrated Math 2.
“I like learning about numbers and how they relate to science and other things in the world; it also prepares you for college,” said Crutchfield.
Crutchfield is involved in Heath Occupation Students of America, and he plans to try out for the basketball and baseball team in the upcoming seasons.
His college plans are to graduate from East Carolina University with a major in Nursing and follow in his grandmother’s footsteps and become a Registered Nurse.
Crutchfield enjoys studying, reading, exercising and researching interesting topics. His hobbies include playing the flute and trumpet. Crutchfield has been playing these instruments since his middle school years.
“To be a great student, you need to have the effort and willingness to study and work hard for your goals,” said Cruthfield.
His advice to others is to study, work hard, ask the teacher if you don’t understand something, and never be afraid to ask for help.
Crutchfield is the grandson of Helen Taylor of Snow Hill.
