Sutton Named Student of the Week

By Harrison Welch

Sophomore Malik Sutton has been named Greene Central’s Student of the Week for the first week in February.

Sutton is currently enrolled in Biology, English II, Occupational Preparation II, and Concert Band. He identifies Concert Band as his favorite class.

“I like Concert Band because I have been in the band since sixth grade. I also really enjoy it,” said Sutton.

“It feels truly amazing to be named Student of the Week,” said Sutton.

“Malik is a hard worker and will do everything he is asked to do. He does everything to the best of his ability. He works hard at band and is one of the most dedicated students I have,” said Band Director and Concert Band teacher Joey Rackley.

In his free time, Sutton enjoys listening to music.

“Malik is very pleasant to work with and puts forth so much effort to complete his assignments.  He is dedicated in the classroom.  He is well-mannered, respectful, and thrives to achieve good grades,” commented Occupational Preparation II teacher Alberta Sutton.

Sutton advises, “If you work hard in school, it will pay off in the end.”

Sutton is a member of the band, the National Music Honor Society, and the Ultimate Frisbee club.

Sutton’s future college plans include studying law at Duke University.

He is the son of Sherrie Benjamin of Maury.
