Williams Receives September Ram Pride Award By Josh Gooding The Greene Central Ram Pride Award for the month of September was presented to Kim Williams from math teacher Dana Hedgepeth at the first staff meeting in September. The Ram Pride award was started in the spring of 2002 and is given monthly to a teacher of a faculty member who shows dedication and hard work at Greene Central High School. During the next faculty meeting, the teacher who previously received the award nominates and presents the award to a teacher whom they believe has gone the extra mile to show the qualities of an outstanding staff member. Williams teaches English 9, Honors English 10, and English 11. She has taught at Greene Central for seven years and is working on her National Board Certification. Williams is the sponsor of the Nukru and the Divas clubs. Nukru is a new club for the 2009-2010 school year that is a hip-hop dance club that allows students to express themselves through movement. The Divas club is a club for females that helps teach self-esteem and positive behavior. "I was truly honored to receive the Ram Pride Award; it is the first time since the award started in 2002, when I started here, that I have received the award," said Williams "Mrs. Williams is the epitome of what the Ram Pride Award should be. She is always willing to what is asked, from starting new clubs and dance teams to managing the cheerleading squad. Williams is involved in and outside the classroom; she is ready to do what needs to be done," said Hedgepeth. "I originally chose Greene Central because I had a double major in English and Communications and there was a position open. I wanted to touch the lives of young people. I have stayed because I have a genuine love for the kids of Greene County," said Williams In her spare time Williams enjoys spending time with her children, cooking, reading, and watching movies. "I have always loved a good novel; I love to just sit and read," said Williams. Williams' plans for the future include obtaining her National Board Certification and possibly going back to school to pursue her Master's Degree. Williams also produces plays, plans weddings, and writes plays and novels in her free time. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Ephesians 4:13)," said Williams. "Always remember that you can do whatever you set your heart to do." |
