McKinley 41-Massillon 10

November 3, 2010
Great American Rivalry Series

by Leah Little

Legendary football best describes Massillon vs McKinley one, of America’s greatest high school football rivalries. For the 120th time, these two met to fight it out and claim bragging rights for one more year. Almost 20,000 people came to Paul Brown Stadium to cheer on their favorite team, with campers and their RVs arriving on Thursday to claim the best spots.

The hype of parades, bon fires, and pep rallies in both communities set the tone for this huge rivalry game. Both teams have made this year's playoffs with 7-2 records, and each team featured several highly-rated prospects, including top-100 junior Se'Von Holloway. Several players have already signed with Division I schools.

Expectations were high at kick-off, as the game's outcome would determine the number one seed in the region. From the jump the game was riddled with penalties as flags flew the entire game and the teams racked up a combined total 238 yards in penalties.

McKinley took the lead for good in the second quarter and never looked backed as they ran all over the Massillon Tigers for a 40-17 blowout. Second half play was dominated by the running game of McKinley’s Holloway and Farrakhan. For 2010, the Victory Bell goes to McKinley.
