There simply was not enough time for a winner to be decided, and the game ended in a tie. AHS were the defending state champions and were led by the scholarship winner Brian Berger. They lost 12 seniors to graduation last year, leaving Berger as a vital member to the team. He landed the game’s first goal. Then CMHS posted a goal, ending the 1st period with 1-1 tie. The 2nd period progressed at an average pace and ended with the score still knotted at one goal each. Then the 3rd period came and blew the lid off the rink. Arrowhead scored early and went up 2-1. The home team came right back and netted a goal tying the game at 2-2. A few minutes later Catholic Memorial scored again going up 3-2. They held the lead all the way until only 0:38 were left in the game, then Arrowhead pulled their goalie and scored a last minute goal to send the game into overtime. An 8 minute overtime period was filled with aggressive shots on the goal that couldn't find the net ending the game in a tie.
