BUFFALO, NY -- Canisius' defense pitched another shutout on Saturday night.
For the fifth time this season, the Canisius Crusaders didn't allow a point en route to a 21-0 win over the St. Joe Collegiate Institute Marauders at Stransky Memorial Stadium in front of over 6,500 fans. The game was part of the 2013 Great American Rivalry Series presented by the U.S. Marine Corps and Hibbett Sports.
With another shutout, Canisius wrapped up a second straight Monsignor Martin Association regular-season title. The rivalry between schools separated by less than four miles began back in 1921 and is considered the best in western New York.
Qadree Ollison ran for 119 yards and two scores to be named the Great American Rivalry Series Most Valuable Player. He had TD runs of 2 and 13 yards. Brad Zaffram added 77 yards on the ground.
The Crusaders held standout Nigel Davis to just 24 rushing yards and Mike McCarthy to just 37 passing yards.
