TROY, OH – One of the oldest rivalries in Ohio continues when the Troy Trojans and the Piqua Indians square off in the annual “Battle of Miami” on Friday at 7 p.m. (EST) More than 8,500 fans are likely to show up at Troy Memorial Stadium, which plays host a game that’s part of the 2013 Great American Rivalry Series presented by the U.S. Marine Corps and Hibbett Sports.
This will be the 129th meeting between Troy and Piqua, which first started playing one another in 1899. Troy leads the all-time series 62-60-6 and had won five straight until Piqua won 14-0 last season.
The Trojans, coached by Scot Brewer, are 3-6 after a 14-9 win over Greenville snapped a four-game slide (including a 66-point loss). Senior back Miles Hibbler scored the game-winning TD with 16 seconds left and finished with 202 yards and both scores. They went 4-6 last season.
The Bill Nees-coached Indians went .500 last season and are currently 3-6 after a 31-14 loss to Butler.
