LONG BEACH, CA – The Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits and the Lakewood Lancers will meet in the annual “Moore League Super Bowl” on Friday at 10 p.m. (EST) at Veterans Stadium. Over 10,000 fans are expected to witness a game that’s part of the 2013 Great American Rivalry Series presented by the U.S. Marine Corps and Hibbett Sports.
The series dates back to 1957 and the game usually determines the Moore League champion. Lakewood won for the first time since 1982 in 2009, but Long Beach Poly has won the last three meetings by a combined score of 107-38 (42-3 last season).
The Jackrabbits, coached by Raul Lara, came so close to winning a Division I state title last season, falling to Granite Bay 21-20 and finishing the season 12-4. They are 6-1 this season after a 31-0 win over Jordan – their fifth straight win.
The Kenric Jameison-coached Lancers, on the other hand, are 3-3 after going 8-3 last season. They beat Compton 46-0 in their last game to set up a matchup of league unbeatens.
