HAMPTON, VA -- Phoebus back Marshawn Williams was a beast on Friday night.
Williams ran for 233 yards and four TDs to lead the Phoebus Phantoms to a 42-0 rout of the Hampton Crabbers in front of over 7,500 fans at Darling Stadium. The game was part of the 2013 Great American Rivalry Series presented by the U.S. Marine Corps and Hibbett Sports.
Williams, who transferred from Hampton after three years, only carried the ball 18 times, but that was enough for him to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark for the season. He was named the Great American Rivalry Series Most Valuable Player.
Kenneth Giles returned an interception 87 yards and Robbie Robinson had a 79-yard punt return for a score for the Phantoms, who led 21-0 on their way to their most lopsided win the series.
Phoebus, which failed to win a state title for the first time since 2007 last season, trails 30-16 in the all-time series but has won nine of the last 12 matchups.
Hampton (2-3) hosts Warwick next Thursday night, while Phoebus (4-1) hosts Menchville next Friday night.
