Forest Hills conquers Richland in Bailey Bowl

The “Bailey Bowl” was packed with emotion, screaming fans, and a father-son going head-to-head for a seventh time. The undefeated Rangers kept their momentum despite the standing mud and oftentimes heavy rainfall to keep their record unblemished and give Coach Don Bailey his 298th career win and his seventh straight win over his son, Richland Coach Brandon Bailey.

The first quarter started out strong for the Rangers of Forest Hills. Nick Dudukovich, later named the Great American Rivalry Series MVP, ran the next play 73 yards from scrimmage to the Rams 3-yard line. Two plays later he bolted in from the 2-yard line, making the score 7-3.

Richland would soon put together a scoring drive of their own as John Rizzo busted up the middle on his way to a 14-yard score. With both teams having trouble moving the ball through the air, the running game kept things honest and sent both teams into the locker room with a 9-7 halftime score.

Richland returned to the field in the third quarter down by 2 points and looking to score on their opening drive. To their surprise, Forest Hills came out with the same intensity they displayed in the first half and pushed the lead to 15-9. The Rangers made two key plays denying the Rams on two fourth and one plays. Momentum was on the side of the home school as Forest Hills would end the game with an impressive 23-9 win.
