2009 Hall of Fame: Lowndes vs. Valdosta

Todd Peterson graduated in 1988 as salutatorian and to Valdosta fans is known for kicking the winning 47-yard field goal against Lowndes in 1987. He attended the U.S. Naval Academy and lettered in football in 1988 and ‘89. Todd then transfered to the University of Georgia, where he was named the GTE Academic All-American and led the SEC in field goal percentage that season. Todd went on to play 13 seasons in the NFL before retiring in 2005.


Barrett T. Wilkes played in the Lowndes-Valdosta rivalry for three years. He was the starting quarterback for the Vikings his sophomore, junior and senior years, leading Lowndes to three consecutive victories over Valdosta. He also led the 1999 Vikings to the Georgia AAAA state championship. He finished his career at Lowndes completing 466 of 838 passes for 5505 yards and 59 touchdowns. The career yards and touchdowns are Viking records today.
