Home » Boys' Basketball NewsCards transition game blows away BourbonFebruary 22, 2012 By James Stephens of George Rogers Clark High SchoolThe Clark County Cardinals cruised in style to a 78-42 victory over Bourbon County Tuesday night at the Bourbon County High School in the first round of the 40th District Championship. Clark finally came to life after a slow first quarter and started the second on a 22-3 run and never looked back. The Cards tightened up defensively and implemented a press for some of the second and third quarter, forcing Bourbon's ball handlers to turn it over. Dominic Vancleve led the Cards with 16 points, including a streak of nine in a row during the Cards 22-3 run. Bopper Stenzel finished with 11, and Adam Fatkin ended with nine. Overall Clark had 10 different scorers. The Colonels leading scorer senior guard Alan Royse received three fouls in the first quarter, but was put back in due to Clark's increasing lead. Clark (26-5) plays Thursday night looking for their seventh straight District 40 championship against border rival Montgomery County (22-9) at Bourbon County High School at 7:00 PM.
