Eagles Fly Over Red Devils
December 2, 2009
By Denis Vass of Graham High School For the second straight night, the Lady Devils continued the turnover trend, as host Eastern Alamance cruised to a 61-37 victory tonight in Mebane.
Graham (1-2) amassed 18 first half turnovers, as the Eagles sprinted to a 29-12 halftime lead. The Red Devils were never able to get any offensive rhythm, and Eastern Alamance's full court press seemed to befuddle Graham's ball handlers.
Eastern's inside play was too much for Graham's post players to handle. Jameelah Pickard scored 17 points, and Lacey Singletary scored 9. The Eagles benefitted from numerous offensive rebounds.
Graham was led by Kayla Lea, who scored 12 points, and Logan Apple, who hit 4 three-pointers for 12 points.
Graham hosts Providence Grove Friday in their opening game in the Mid-State 2-A Conference.
Graham's JV Boys thrashed Eastern Alamance 71-46 in the evening's opening tilt.
