Day 2- Same results

By Denis Vass of Graham High School It was day 2 of the week, and it was deja vu-- the Boy's teams rolled, but the girls stumbled again.
The JV boys rolled over Reidsville 71-63, as Brent Baldwin poured in 25 points. Khalil Cole added 16 points. The JV's improved to 16-5, 7-4 in the conference with the win. They have one game remaining.
The Varsity boys came out raining fire- they dropped 10 three points on the Rams the opening half, as they busted out to a 26-8 first period lead and a 51-21 halftime lead. Kendall Patterson nailed 6 3's the opening half, and filled out the scorebook for 20 points.
Graham turned on the cruise control the second half, pulling out a 78-59 win over Reidsville. The Red Devils dropped in 16 three point baskets tonight.
Kendall Patterson led Graham with 22 points, while Antonio Turned banged home 4 threes for 12 points. Courtney Edmonds scored 10, with Trent Torain adding 9.
Graham solidified their 2nd place standing, with a game left next week against Eastern Randolph. With the Wildcats losing to Cummings this week, Graham and Eastern Randolph are curently tied for scond place in the conference. Graham pushed their record to 18-5, 9-2 in the Mid-State 2A Conference. Cummings leads the conference with one loss, while the Red Devils and Eastern Randolph have 2. The Wildcats have to face Graham and Cummings next week.
Reidsville, a day after picking up their first conference win of the season and their third overall, falls to 3-16, 1-8. Rashad Galloway led the Rams with 22 points.
For the Lady Devils, it was a nightmare all over again. The Lady Rams outrebounded, out shot, outplayed and dismantled Graham 71-38. The Lady Rams shot 126%-they hit almost everything that went up in the air. So thorough was the devistation, the Lady Devils only managed four points the 3rd period- all free throw, and didn't hit a bucket until Cherise Ashley's basket with 5 minutes left in the game. Graham was led by Jasmine Atkins and Kay Kay Wilson, who scored 11 points apiece.
The Lady Devils will need to refocus and regroup, as they face Eastern Randolph next Tuesday before heading into the conference tournament. Reidsville and Jordan Matthews have 1 loss each in the conference, while the Lady Devils have 2. The Rams and Jets play each other back-to-back next week.
