The Graham varsity teams both posted wins over Cummings tonight, the girls scratching out a 42-35 win, while the boys held on for a 67-63 win.
The Lady Devils, one night after posting an emotional win over number one Reidsville, had a hard time staying focused in tonights game against Cummings.
Graham led 14-10 at the end of the first period, and 21-17 at the half. After three periods, they were up 31-27. The Lady Cavs nailed two three-point baskets at the end of the third period, and another to start the fourth to pull within one at 31-30 at the 6:50 mark. The gym was packed. The Cummings fans were smelling upset city and rocking the bleachers. At that point, the Lady Devils decided enough was enough and slammed the door shut to the goal, went on a 9-0 run to break out to a 10 point lead and never looked back. Cummings didn't post another point on the scoreboard until 1:13 was left.

Graham came out swinging the third period, hit the Cavaliers right in the gut and smashed the Cavs 24-9 to take a 52-42 lead heading into the final period. The Red Devils got balanced scoring from all its starters, hustled after every loose ball, pulled down critical offensive and defensive rebounds, hit some important three point baskets, and basically outplayed the Caviliers. Cummings, to their credit, didn't fold up camp and fought back to the very end, as the Red Devil held on for a hard-fought 67-63 win.
