By Denis Vass of Graham High SchoolGraham completed a tripleheader sweep of Providence Grove tonight in the Devils Den.
12 players scored for the JV boys, as they romped to a 85-52 win. Jontae Sellars topped the scoring with 17, followed by Brent Baldwin with 11, Khalil Cole -10, and Griffin Stanley with 8. The Devil Pups run their record to 12-4, 4-3 in the confernce.
The Lady Devils broke open a tight game in the 2nd half to eke out a 46-39 win to remain unbeaten at 7-0 in the Mid-State 2A Conference. The Lady Devils improved their overall record to 12-8.
Jasmin Atkins led all scorers with 19, while Kay Kay Wilson added 13. Graham will face their second top-ranked team in the state tomorrow night when Reidsville comes to the Devil's Den. Reidsville is undefeated and unbeaten in the conference also.
The boys sprinted out to a 27-12 first period lead, then watched the Patriots claw their way back into the game to within 8 points at the half, 46-38.
Providence Grove hung around until Graham decided enough was enough, then turned up the heat and romped off to a 89-68 win. The Red Devils outscored the Patriots 43-30 the second hald to wrap up their fifth win in the Conference.
Graham improves to 14-5, 5-2 Mid State 2A.
Come and pack the gym tomorrow night to see if the Lady Devils can knock off their second top-ranked team in 2013!
