Red Devils Sweep

Both girls and boys teams won with relative ease tonight to capture the championship trophy in the 2012 Don Amos Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament sponsored by the Graham High School Athletic Boosters Club.
The Lady Devils took on conference foe Cummings, and rolled to a convincing 50-31 win to claim first place in several years. Graham's coach Melinda Goodson picked up her first Holiday Classic championship trophy.
The Lady Devils took cues from the boys team, banging home 8 three point baskets. Kay Kay Wilson and Cherise Ashley scored 13 points each, while BrieAna Snipes added 12. The win pushes the Lady Devils record to 4-6, while they won their third straight game.
Named to the All-Tournament Team was Kierra James from Western Alamance, Andrea Walker from Cummings, BrieAna Snipes, Jasmine Atkins, and Kay Kay Wilson from Graham. Wilson was named the tournament's MVP.
The boys took on Raleigh Heat, a home school team. The Heat sprinted to a 27-17 first period lead. Foul trouble for the Heat allowed Graham back into the game, as the Heat only brought 8 players, and 4 had 3 fouls at the half. Graham outscored Raleigh Heat 25-12 to grab a 42-39 half time lead. The Red Devils only managed to bang home four three point shots, all in the first period.
The Red Devils were just warming up, coming out of the locker room to blast the heat 49-35 the second half to claim a 91-74 win. The Red Devils banged down 10 3's the second half. The Heat had three players foul out.
Troy Bowden led Graham witn 19 points, while Trent Torain added 18, with Kendall Patterson and Courtney Edmonds adding 16 point each.
Keith Porch led all scorers with 23 points for the Heat.
The Heat suffered only their second loss in 15 games, white Graham improves to 8-2.
Named to the all tournament teamf or the boys were RJ Turner from Western Alamance, RJ Alvarado from Rivermill, Robert Thomas and Traevon Jordan from Raleigh Heat, Courtney Edmonds and Trent Torain from Graham. Kendall Patterson and Troy Bowden were named Co-MVP's of the tournament.
Both boys and girls teams will play Carrboro next week in the opening round of the Eastern Guilford Basketball Tournamen beginning December 26th.
