Red Devils Romp
November 30, 2012By Denis Vass of Graham High School
Graham's boys teams remained undefeated, with the JV boys and Varsity boys both winning their games against Williams tonight by wide margins, while the girls ran into another buzz saw and dropped their second game of he season.
The JV boys won their third game in a 62-40 romp. The Varsity Girls had their second game in a week where they seemed to be unable to locate the basket, as the Lady Bulldogs ran away with a 48-33 win.
The Varsity Boys took a period to get going, and when they got going, there wasn's a thing Williams could do to stop them.
Graham led 17-11 after one period of play. Williams switched to a zone defense early, practically daring the Red Devils to beat them from long range. Then the Red Devils got hot. Graham outscored Williams 25-8 to grab a 42-17 halftime lead. The Red Devils canned 8 3 point baskets the first half.
Graham came out of the locker room and kept their foot on the gas pedal, their full court pressure thoroughly frustrating the Bulldogs, as they blasted the Bulldogs back to the Dog Pound by scoring 22 points, while holding Williams to two third period points and grab a commanding 64-19 lead heading into the final period of play. So thorough was Graham's defense, that the Bulldogs missed numerous shots from point blank range, and scored their only bucket with 35 seconds left in the period.
William's Coach Ryan Freeman called three time outs, none which helped slow the offensive onslaught of the Red Devils or cured the Bulldog's offensive woes.
Graham won easily by a 77-32 score as Graham's coach Mile Williams emptied his bench for a majority of the final period.
The Red Devils rained down 13 three point baskets for the game. They have hit double digits in all three games played on three point baskets.
Graham will host the Eagles of Eastern Alamance on Tuesday night.
