Red Devils Close Out 2012 In Style

Bartlett Yancey had it all tonight- first downs, yards, plays, and a lead with 10 minutes left in the game.
The Buccaneer's Darreal Hamlett scored his third touchdown with 3.1 seconds left in the third quarter to push the Buccaneers ahead 21-14. Don Evans picked up a fumble after a completed pass reception by team mate Jamal Richmond and rumbled 26 yards for a touchdown to pull Graham within 1 at 21-20 at the 9:50 mark of the 4th quarter. The 2 point PAT failed, and Bartlette Yancey attempted to put away the Red Devils on the ground.
Bartlett Yancey thoroughly throttled Graham in every area of the game except one.The Buccaneers had 13 first downs to Graham's 3. The Buccaneers rumbled for 59 carries and 9 passes, 65 total plays from scrimmage. Gaham? 19 carries and 13 passes, 32 total plays for the game. Rushing, Bartlett Yancey had a considerable edge- 229 yards to Graham's 16. Graham did manage to put up more passing yards, 170 to Bartlett Yancey's zero. The Buccaneers even took out Graham's playmaker, Antonio Turner, on a wicked hit in the 2nd period, with no flag thrown. Turner was Graham's all-around threat, going into the game with over 1,600 all-purpose yardage. He never returned to the game.
So what happened? Special Teams. Somebody forgot to tell the Buccaneers about Graham's return powress.
Troy Bowden fielded a punt and scampered along the sidelines 73 yards for a touchdown with 6:48 remaining. With 1:38 left, Jeremy Williams picked up a fumble as the Buccaneer quarterback scrambled to avoid a scak, racing 21 yards to the endzone.
Graham ran past the Buccaneers by a 34-21 score, to end the 2012 campaing with a 3-8 record, finishing 2-4 in the conference. Bartlette Yancey finished last in the conference for the fourth straight year, ending the season with a 2-9, 1-5 record.
Jamal Richmond caught 6 passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns, one a 48 yarder that he bobbled the ball 10 yards before securing it, and the other a 36 yarder.
Freshman quarterback Jamie Newman tossed for 580 yards and 7 touchdowns his final three games of the year.
Troy Bowden led the defense with 15 tackles and one interception, while Jeremy Williams recorder 18 total tackles, with 4 being for loss and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown. Brent Baldwin had nine tackles and a fumble recovery and a kick-off recovery.
Bartlette Yancey's Darrell Hamlett carried the ball 36 times for 225 yards. The rest of the team managed 4 positive yards. The Red Devils forced Bartlette Yancey into 12 plays for negative yards, a total of 81 yards in loss.
Graham also pounced on 3 Buccaneer fumbles and a blotched kick off, and had one interception.
Graham will spend the offseason working on the future as numerous underclassmen played major roles this year. Thanks to Coach Timmons for the positive values and attitudes he instilled this year. Looking forward to 2013 alrerady!
