Dodson McPherson Amongst Leaders

By Denis Vass of Graham High School Former Graham Red Devil standout baseball player Dodson McPherson continues to post some amazing numbers for Wingate university, where he is playing his final campaign for the Bulldogs. McPherson was named the South Atlantic Conference Male Athlete of the year Award as well as First Team All-American in 2011, and was one of the 8 finalists in the Tino Martinez Award for Division II National Player of the Year. Wingate is currently 22-14 overall, and 10-8 in the South Atlantic Conference.
Dodson leads Wingate in a myriad of categories after 36 games played. He is first in home runs with 10, Other categories he is leading the Bulldogs in are: 42 runs scored, .699 slugging percentage, 31 walks, and an .476 on base percentage.
He is also second in batting average by .001 with a .353 average, 89 total bases, 35 Runs batted in, and tied for second with one triple. He is third on the team in hits with 47, and fourth with 10 doubles and 113 at-bats. Dodson is fifth with 5 stolen bases.
Another former Red Devil is also playing for Wingate, Blake Throneburg. Blake is currently batting .357 with 5 hits in 14 at bats and 4 RBI.
Matt Roberts is suiting up for the Tarheels of North Carolina. Matt has been battling injuries this season and has played sparingly. The Tarheels are currently ranked #5 in the nation in Division I Baseball. They sport a 19-5 overall record and 7-2 in the ACC. Matt has played in 14 games, making 18 plate appearances, scoring one run, banging out three hits, and has 4 RBI.
Another former Graham standout is Seth Casion. Seth has transfered to Greensboro College from Catawba. The Pride currently are 17-10 and 3-5 in the USA South Conference. Seth has appeared in 25 games. He has 79 at bats, 24 hits, scored 12 runs, smashing 7 roubles and driving in 17 runs. His batting average is .304, on base percentage is .385, and his slugging percentage is .392.
Cody Dix is suiting up for the Braves of UNC Pemnroke. Cody has also been battling injuries. Pembroks is currently 22-10, 10-7 in the Peach Belt Conference. Cody has only pitched in four games,2.2 innings He has allowed 9 hits, 8 runs, 3 walks, struck out 4, and has a 27.0 ERA.
